The robberies -- four of them occurred at pharmacies in Oshawa, Ajax and Pickering in less than 24 hours on Dec. 9 and 10 -- each involved three suspects and are still under investigation, Durham police said. The first incident occurred around 6 p.m. Dec. 9 when three suspects robbed Devon's Pharmacy on Wilson Road South of narcotics and fled in a waiting vehicle, police said. On Dec. 10, there were three separate robberies within a 20-minute time span -- at Harwood Medical Centre on Harwood Avenue South in Ajax at 1 p.m., followed six minutes later by a similar incident at Guardian Pharmacy on Bayly Street in Pickering, where a store employee was assaulted, police said. Then, at 1:20 p.m., police report three suspects robbed the Eastview IDA Pharmacy on King Street East in Oshawa of narcotics and assaulted a worker before fleeing. No injuries were reported. The suspects in all four incidents are described as Black males in dark-coloured clothing. "Investigators believe that these four robberies may be connected," police said. Durham police said they responded to Kingston Road near Salem Road for a report of a pedestrian struck around 7:50 p.m. A 31-year-old pedestrian crossing the roadway was struck by an eastbound Honda Civic, police said. "The pedestrian was taken to a Toronto- area trauma centre. The male pedestrian is currently listed in serious condition," police said in updating the incident Thursday morning. The 32-year-old driver of the Honda remained at the scene of the collision, police said. The roadway was closed for several hours for an investigation. AJAX PEDESTRIAN SERIOUSLY INJURED ON DEC. 14 A woman was seriously injured and a man is in custody after police responded to an incident in Pickering on Sunday evening. Durham police tweeted at around 7 p.m. on Dec. 18 that a "large police presence" was in the area of Valley Farm Road and Dellbrook Avenue in Pickering for an ongoing investigation. About 90 minutes later, police added in a second tweet that one man was in custody and that a woman was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with originally life-threatening injuries. However, police noted, the woman is now considered to be in serious but stable condition. Police provided no further information about the alleged suspect or victim.
