He will be missed by his children Christopher (Karen) and Regina (Stefan). He was a proud Poppa to his grand- children Alexander, Blake, Miranda and Jude. Joe was married to his best friend and love of his life, Kathleen, for over 54 years. He is survived by brother Donald of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Joe was a proud graduate and XMEN of St. Francis Xavier University. He died on the Feast Day of St. Francis Xavier. Joe dedicated many years serving the Durham Catholic District School Board community. Whether it was in his capacity as teacher, religious consultant or adult faith animator, he brought his faith and love to all who met him. He touched the hearts of many and helped them to realise that we are not alone. To honour the memory of Joe, do something kind for someone you do not know. Smile at people in the street. Know that God's love is always available. Live a life of hope and gratitude. Heidi was born October 2, 1918 in the Prussian Village of Bobrek. Mother Anselma (Nowitzki) Father Josef Pawlik. Siblings Fritz, Edelraut and Katharina (Käthe). Husband Rolf Otto Friedrichs (1992). Children Wolfgang (Elizabeth) and Peter (Lesley). Grandchildren Rachel, Robin, Daniel, Kristen, Joshua and Sean. What an amazing 104 years she experienced: enduring WW ll, escaping the Russians, finding love, marriage, childbirth, and immigrating to a new land. With her beauty, style, humour and grace she was much loved and a favourite at parties. Heidi was a devoted wife and mother, and a great cook (her potato salad will be missed). Following cremation, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations can be made in her memory to your favourite charity. Born and raised in Oshawa, he graduated from Queens University, and Niagara University with his B. Ed and M.ED. An educator with the Durham District School Board for 35 years as a teacher, Vice Principal and Principal. After retirement he became an avid model train enthusiast and spent many hours building and enjoying his model train display, a hobby he shared with his brother. Many happy years were spent in Myrtle Beach vacationing, and we have very found memories. Also, he enjoyed the 5 cruises we did on Holland America. He is predeceased by his parents Byron and Irene and his brother Norman. He leaves behind his loving wife Janet of 58 ½ years, his children Teri (Dave), Lori (Jim) and Mark (Sarah). He also leaves behind his grandchildren Melissa (Tim), Michael (Courtney), Sarah, Byron and Emma and his step grandchildren Dan (Senna), Meghan (Mike) and Robyn (Cam). He also leaves behind his loving great- grandchildren Lexi, Aaliyah, Anthony, and Henry. Also surviving him are his sister-in- law Judith and his nieces Jane (Fred) and Anne.
