Organized by Rotary Clubs of Durham Region, The Concert to Feed the Need in Durham is at Oshawa's Biltmore Theatre, 39 King St. E., on Dec. 10 at 2 p.m. Featured acts include Cale Crowe, Dipo D Voice, The Doozies, Tania Joy, New Moon Junction, Alicia Robicheau, Hunter and Kent Sheridan and Kalista Wilson. Feed the Need supports more than 60 organizations, including Durham's busiest food banks, and the organization has seen a large increase in food bank use as food prices have increased. Concert organizer Joe Solway explained this is the fifth concert to support the Feed the Need and the first event was held in Bowmanville in 2018. "I come from the CBC where they have a show called 'Sounds of the Season,' which raised money for -- in the beginning -- the Daily Food Bank and eventually food banks across the Toronto region," he said. When he retired, Solway decided to try a similar fundraiser locally. Now the Bowmanville Rotary Club works with clubs from across Durham to put on the show. Solway said the artists featured during the concert were eager to participate. "They just jumped at the chance to help out. Musicians are some of the most generous people anywhere," he said. Tickets for the event are $30 and available online at ftndconcert.ca. More information is also available at facebook.com/ ConcertToFeedTheNeedInDurham.
