In memory of Tonia "Toni" Mulder (Smit) March 8, 1931 - August 22, 2022 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ With sadness we share the unexpected passing of Mom with her son and daughter by her side on Monday, August 22, 2022 at Lakeridge Health Port Perry in her 92nd year. Loved wife of Jack Mulder (deceased). Dear Mother of Pam Ellis, Judy Smart (Terry) and Ron Mulder (Debbie). Much loved by her grand- children Michael and Kenneth Ellis, Matthew and Adam Smart and Kassie, Niki and Abbie Mulder. Proud Oma to her great-grandchildren Gavyn, Lucas, Callie, Aubree, Rhylee, Sawyer and Brayden with another great-granddaughter expected to arrive mid October, who she was hoping to be able to love and enjoy. She was pre-deceased by her parents Jacobus and Altien Smit. Mom was the oldest of 12 children and shortly after her marriage in 1951 to Jack Mulder they immigrated from the Netherlands to Canada to start their lives together. She was a stay-at-home Mom until her children were no longer young and then she become a very busy volunteer. She served as President of the Oshawa General Hospital Auxiliary and also spent some time as President of her U.C.W. group at Kingsview United Church in Oshawa. She helped with bazaars, cooking meals for functions at the church and she and Jack sold many hundreds (? Thousands) of Nevada tickets in the Oshawa Hospital lobby after Dad had retired. 13 years after Dad passed away 2001, Mom moved to the Port Perry Villa retirement residence to enjoy her life with lots of new friends and many activities to keep her life full of happiness. We are indebted to the wonderful Villa staff for their awesome ability to help Mom enjoy life to the fullest by being willing to provide her with whatever she needed to be as independent as possible. Mom lived there for 8 years and was well known to Villa staff and residents who watched her zip around in her electric wheelchair. I think she will be missed there, although now they don't have to be worried about getting out of her way!! Mom will be cremated and will be resting at Mount Lawn Funeral Home. She requested no funeral or visitation. A private family Celebration of Life will be held in the coming weeks with interment to follow at Mount Lawn Cemetery. If desired memorial donations may be made to the Auxiliary of Lakeridge Health Port Perry or to a charity of your choice. And have you gone, forever gone and left us here to weep. Till we are called to follow you, and in the grave to sleep; yet since you could no longer stay to cheer us with your love, we hope to meet with you again in the bright world above. Time may heal the broken-hearted, time may make the wound less sore; but time will never stop the longing for the loved one gone before.
