| durhamregion.com | This Week | Thursday, May 19, 2022 | 30 SWAIN, Hugh James ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Hugh went to be with the Lord in his 85th year on May 10, 2022. He died peacefully in his sleep at home with loved ones by his side. Hugh was devoted to his family and was deeply loved by his wife of 60 years, Donna and his children Cindy (Rob) Archibald, the late Kathy (James) Schmidt, Diane (Murray) Rundle and Andrea (Ralph) Spoltore. Hugh was a wonderful grandpa to Eric, Kyle and Nicole Archibald; Jake, Adam, Nathan, Emily and Hannah Schmidt; Matt (Hanna), Ben, Josh and Grace Rundle; Kenzie and Johnny Spoltore; and papa to Christian Archibald. He is also fondly remembered by his sister Jean Tanczos, his brother Ron (Barb) Swain, his brother-in-law Paul (Diane) Kerr and many nieces and nephews. Hugh grew up on a family farm on Lake Scugog in Valentia. He graduated from the University of Toronto with a BASc in Electrical Eng- ineering and later joined Andrew Canada Inc. where he spent 29 years, finishing his career as General Manager and President. Hugh gave back to his community in a variety of ways including many years on the boards of IEEE Canadian Foundation, Durham Region Manufacturers Asso- ciation and Whitby General Hospital. He was an active church leader serving on the deacons board and missions committee, as well as leading Sunday school and small group Bible studies. Hugh's favourite place was the cottage he finished building himself, where he would spend his summers with family and his winters snowmobiling. His wise counsel, generosity, integrity, and witty sense of humour will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Friends and family will be received from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Mount Lawn Funeral Home (21 Garrard Road, Whitby). The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 20, 2022, at Mount Lawn Funeral Home with a reception to follow. SUTTON, Robert Burton ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ has passed away at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on May 9th, 2022, with his beloved wife Joan (nee Fice) and family by his side. Bob was the beloved husband and best friend of Joan for 62 years on April 30, 2022. Loving father of Dawn Leah Sutton-Arnett and Wayne Davidson, Robert James Sutton, and wife Lisa Marie Sutton. Dear grandfather of Brendan Robert Arnett, Colin James Arnett, Curtis James Sutton, and Owen Edward Sutton. Loving great- grandfather of Benjamin Kacey Arnett. Together Bob and Joan enjoyed many years of travel to Alaska, Europe, The Baltic, and England as well as their many years traveling to Florida, and the USA. Montana, USA being one of his favourites. Bob's love of fishing and hunting took him and his many buddies to the far north, east and west to catch the big ones. There was never any limit to how often and how many times they would fish. The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff at Lakeridge Health Cancer Clinic.
