The additional charge of sexual assault against Ronald (Ronn) Young was announced by Durham police Thursday, Feb. 3. Young, 63, had previously been charged in January with offences relating to alleged sexual assaults against two young men between 2013 and 2016, when Young worked as a contractual lecturer at Ontario Tech University (formerly UOIT) between 2008 and 2017. Those charges were based on allegations that assaults against a 17-year-old victim began in 2016 and continued for several years, police said. Police also allege offences involving a 21-year-old victim date back to 2013. Police said the two were students of Young's. After the announcement of those charges another person came forward, police said. "The investigation revealed that a male in his 20s was the victim of a sexual assault from an incident that occurred in the summer of 2020. The male was a previous student of Young, but not at the time of the alleged incident," police said in a media release Thursday. The charges have not been proven in court. Young also worked as a church pastor in Clarington between 1985 and 2002 and currently works as a psychotherapist at an Oshawa medical clinic, police said. An investigation contin- ues.
