25 MARTIN, Olga (nee Andrey) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Olga Martin (nee Andrey) passed away on January 14, 2022, at the age of 91 in Whitby surrounded by family members. Loving wife to Edward (Ted) Martin (deceased 2018), amazing mother to sons Robert and Richard and daughters-in-law Mary and Elizabeth, and devoted grandmother to Matthew, Kevin, and Ian. Dear sister to Natalie Judge, Patricia Andrey, and Donald Andrey (deceased) and sister-in-law to William McCormack, Jack Judge (deceased) and Jeanette Andrey. A special person in the hearts of family, extended family members and friends. Olga met Ted at their place of work, and they were married on October 4, 1952. When they started a family, Olga decided she would stay at home to raise their children. She was an active and supportive mother and a thoughtful confidant. Olga enjoyed family get- togethers, playing bridge with her friends, nature, and had a keen interest in life-long learning. She enjoyed Bunka, a type of Japanese embroidery. However, her real passion was reading. She read all types of books, but her favourites were crime, thriller, and suspense fiction. Olga could be found sitting in the living room most evenings, a book in hand. She was always on the lookout for book sales and up to date on the Best Seller list. An avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan, Olga also enjoyed cheering on the team. Olga asked for a simple grave side service for family and friends. Details to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice. In life, Olga and Ted were each other's best friends, and Ted's passing was difficult for her. They are now together again, inseparable through their love. Our remarkable mother, Elsa (Zara) Monego, passed away peacefully at home Friday, January 21, 2022 at the age of 95. Elsa was a devoted wife to the late Rudy Monego with whom she shared 60 years of marriage. Predeceased by her parents (Domenico and Ada Zara) and her brother (Antonio). Proud and loving mother of Carmen Monego (late Roberto Marchetti), Flavia and Franco Palmieri, and Annamaria and Vince Maccarone. She will be sadly missed by her nephews: Aldo, Sandro (Margo), Dennis (Kathy), Andrew (Nicole) and Rob (Michelle); her grandchildren: Lino (Rosa), Giovanna (Vincenzo), Manuela (Pat), Adriano (Amber), Carlo (Amber), Matt (Ingrid), and Adam (Leanne) and her great-grandchildren: Roberto, Michele, Roberto, Vito, Kristian, Alexia, Avery, Elle, Lucas, Hayley, Annika and Vinnie. Elsa immigrated to Canada in 1957 with her husband, eight year old daughter and three year old twins. She was an amazing seamstress and worked from home so that she could also raise her family. Elsa was an avid reader and her teaching skills ensured that all her daughters remained fluent in Italian. She approached any obstacle as a challenge to be overcome. Her strength and resilience remained to the end. She leaves many saddened hearts but a wealth of cherished memories. Our special thanks to Dr. Barrettara and to the nurses (Christina in particular) and PSW's for their care and support. Resting at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905- 721-1234). Honorable and true in all your ways, loving and faithful to the end of your days Gone is the face we loved so dear, silent is the voice we loved to hear; too far away for sight or speech, but not too far for thought to reach, sweet to remember you who once was here, and who, though absent, is just as dear. Your memory is as dear today, as in the hour you passed away. And have you gone, forever gone and left us here to weep. Till we are called to follow you, and in the grave to sleep; yet since you could no longer stay to cheer us with your love, we hope to meet with you again in the bright world above. And have you gone, forever gone and left us here to weep. Till we are called to follow you, and in the grave to sleep; yet since you could no longer stay to cheer us with your love, we hope to meet with you again in the bright world above. A wonderful person, friend and aide, one who was better God never made; a wonderful worker, so loyal and true, one in a million - that person was you. Just in your judgment, always right; honest and liberal, ever upright; loved by your friends and all whom you knew. Our wonderful friend - that person was you.
