24 24 PICKUP, Edel Sundman (née Olsen, formerly Moynes) February 12, 1920 - January 22, 2022 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Edel Sundman Pickup (nee Olsen, formerly Moynes) passed peacefully on January 22, 2022 at Alexander Place LTC in Waterdown, Ontario, at the age of 101 years. She will be sadly missed by son Riley and his wife Yvonne, daughter Ann and her husband Wayne, grandsons Christopher (Sarah) and Peter (Jennifer), granddaughters Hilary (Shane) and Summer (Chris) and by great-grandchildren Dylan, Riley, Jaime, Charlie, Keaton, Harper, Tanner and Elle. She was predeceased by her mother Erna, her father Olaf, sister Tove Rule, brother-in-law Richard (Dick) Rule, sister Lynn Olsen, her first husband Elgin Alonzo (Bud) Moynes, and second husband Jim Pickup. Born on February 12, 1920, in Kastrup (Copenhagen), Denmark, the family emigrated to Canada in 1927, settling in Oshawa, Ontario where her father was employed at General Motors. She and Bud raised Riley and Ann in Toronto, where Edel was a homemaker, a lover of pets, a working mother, and a proud and devoted grandmother to her grandchildren. She enjoyed dancing, was an enthusiastic traveller and a talented artist. In her retirement she created, displayed, and sold her oil paintings and water colours at art shows in Oshawa and Ajax for many years. As she aged, she recognized the need to be closer to family and returned to the Toronto area. Later still when she came to require long term care, she moved to Waterdown, closer to her daughter, Ann. She attributed her longevity to her "Viking genes", and on her 100th birthday, when her son Riley said he didn't know many others who had reached that milestone, she replied: "Well, this is what 100 looks like!" We will miss our Viking Nana. WOOLDRIDGE, Douglas Ellery November 27, 1954 - December 30, 2021 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ It is with a mix of feelings that we announce the passing of Douglas Wooldridge on December 30, 2021. While only 67, the last 5 months of suffering from IPF is behind him and now Heaven is his new home! Born in Lindsay, Doug moved to Durham Region where he eventually attended McLaughlin C.V.I. and worked various jobs including, Dunlop Plastics (Extrusion). I, Marilyn have lost the kind, gentle, loving adventurer that was my comical friend and husband for an almost combined 35 years. Our daughter (Timber), lost her earthly father, full of love, guidance and quirky humour! Doug's life was full of health- related challenges, but he tried to make the most of it, right to the very end. His love of life and, for nature, was contagious. Who else could brag about having a pet groundhog and, a birdfeeder that fed the whole "host" of Gods' animal kingdom at one time! In addition to Timber and myself, Doug leaves behind a number of siblings: Diane, Dave, Don (Cathy), Donna, Karen (Gary) Phillips, Kim (Kelly pre-deceased) Trapp, and a good mix of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Not to be forgotten are Larry (Char) Genge and Teddy Coons; lifelong friends and Brian Newton - a newer, but equally valued friend. Sadly, Doug's brother Dean predeceased him at a very young age; as have both parents, aunts and uncles. With thanks to the ICU - Lakeridge Health for their exemplary care. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life"... OBITUARIES And have you gone, forever gone and left us here to weep. Till we are called to follow you, and in the grave to sleep; yet since you could no longer stay to cheer us with your love, we hope to meet with you again in the bright world above. A sweet little flower, nipped in the bud, no grief or sorrow knew; just came to earth to win our love and then to Heaven withdrew. No stain was on your little heart, sin had not entered there. And while you lie in peaceful sleep, your memory we shall always keep. Pleasant in manner, patient in pain, our loss is your eternal gain.
