THURSDAY JANUARY 6, 2022 With the Omicron variant ripping through Ontario, the provincial government announced new lockdown measures that kicked in on Jan. 5 and will be in place for at least 21 days. The announcement means indoor dining, gyms and theatres will be closed and there will be lower capacity limits in other areas. Takeout, drive through and delivery will continue to be allowed. Durham Region and the rest of Ontario moved back into Step 2 of the province's reopening plan on Jan. 5.
