December's second annual Cure Cup hockey game between staff and students at the Luther Vipond Arena featured not just the game but also a skills competition, food sales, and henna tattooing, all under the direction of the grade 12 business leadership class taught by Susan Shoemaker. The course provides students with active learning communica- tion and organization skills in management and networking, to name just two, and is completely student run. The inaugural Cure Cup in 2017 was also run by that year's class. Students and staff watch the Cure Cup game. Concessions were part of the Cure Cup fundraising effort. Here are (left to right) Emily Peacock, Jacob Roach, Olivia Murphy, Caroline Fitzpatrick, Sarah Matthews, and Maddy Jeffrey who took care of food sales in the lobby. From whitby.ca: "Parking in Whitby is regulated by the Town's Traffic By-Law 1862-85, which was passed by Whitby Council to maintain the safe and efficient movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic for the residents and visitors of the Town. "Enforcement of the parking regulations is directed toward vehicles that interfere with the movement of pedestrians, maintenance duties, or impede access for emergency vehicles. "The three hour on-street parking limit applies all year long. In addition, from November 1 to April 15, there is an additional restriction of no parking from 2 A.M. to 6 A.M., whether there is inclement weather or not. Maintenance staff are out at this time in preparation for inclement weather. This infraction is pro-actively patrolled for compliance." Parking fines range from $15 to $300. Additionally, streets may not get plowed when vehicles are parked on them, regardless of the time. This could create dangerous conditions for drivers and pedestrians. Brooklin residents are urged to cooperate during snowstorms and not park on the streets. Winter Parking: When It Snows, Please Don't Park On The Street continued from page 4
