This appointment was confirmed and these two ladies acted in this capacity until October 1943, when Miss Dixon was appointed with Miss McEwan as assistant. After the Women's Institute accepted responsibility for the library, the men gradually dropped out-whether it was through lack of interest or because of the presence of the women-until today only two men appear on the board and one never attends. Each year one Director named is to be an officer of the Women's Institute. At the present time there are 3514 volumes in the library. The membership for 1946 is 70. Funds are very low, since the Women's Institute have, during war years, given very little and grants get less each year.
