Bottles like this were manufactured in the US and sold throughout southern Ontario. Only a handful of these bottles exist. They measure about 13 inches in height and are very slender.
Notes
Dr. George Alva Carson was born in Prince Edward County, Upper Canada, on February 13, 1822. He studied medicine at Central Medical College in Rochester, New York and graduated in 1852. He attended McGill College at Montreal for one year and graduated from Victoria College, Cobourg in 1858.

He came to Whitby about 1858 after practicing medicine in Galt and Brantford. He was noted for manufacturing patent medicines, such as "Dr. Carson's Liver Tonic and Blood Purifier". He was coroner for Ontario County in the early 1870s and surgeon for the Grand Trunk Railway. From 1869 to 1879 he was representative on the Medical Council of Physicians and Surgeons. He served on the Town Council of Whitby in 1870 to 1871 and from 1875 to 1894 was collector of Customs for the Port of Whitby.

After the death of his second wife in 1900 he moved to Chicago to live with his brother. He died at Chicago on March 11, 1910 and is buried at Union Cemetery, Oshawa.
