A black and white negative of James Maurice Souch.

Notes

James Maurice Souch was born at Oshawa on 25 October 1930. He first worked for Ontario Motor Sales in Oshawa, of which his father was co-founder, and rose to Chairman of the Board. After a brief retirement, he opened Marigold Lincoln-Mercury at Dundas and Anderson Streets in Whitby 1982. He was named Business Person of the Year by the Whitby Chamber of Commerce in 1990 and won the Time Magazine Quality Automobile Dealer of the Year Award that same year. He was President of the Oshawa Kiwanis Club and organized the Kiwanis Music Festivals. He was also President of the Oshawa Ski Club and Oshawa Flying Club and business advisor to the Durham Board of Education. Mr. Souch was President of the Chamber of Commerce in 1986 and Chairman of the Whitby General Hospital Board of Governors from 1994-96. He was named Peter Perry Award Winner as the outstanding citizen of Whitby for 1993. In 1990 he was President of the Ontario Automobile Dealers Association, and was the founding Chairman of Whitby Charles H. Best Centre for Diabetic Children. In 1979 and 1980 he ran as a Progressive-Conservative against N.D.P Leader Ed Broadbent. Mr. Souch died at the Uxbridge Hospital on 7 March 2002 and was cremated.
