Description
A black and white negative of a horse and wagon trotting around a field at a horse show on August 16, 1939. In this view the horse and wagon are moving towards the photographer. Another horse and wagon can be seen in the background. The horse show was held on the property of the Whitby Lawn Bowling and Tennis Club. Hand written on the negative envelope is the name Corb Stiner.
Notes
Corbett (Corb) Henry Stiner was born on 18 August 1894 in Uxbridge, Ontario. He married Grace Marion Collacutt (1902-1973) in 1920 in Whitby, Ontario. They had one daughter, Judith Lynda Stiner. He owned and operator a car dealership in Whitby and was a veteran of the first world war serving overseas with the 116th Battalion. Mr. Stiner died on 23 March 1963 and is buried in Mount Lawn Cemetery, Whitby, Ontario.

Marjorie Georgina Ruddy (1908-1980) was a prominent Whitby photographer and the only commercial photographer in Whitby during the 1930s and 1940s. Marjorie was the official photographer for the Whitby Police Department starting in the 1930s and as a result took many photographs of car accidents, fingerprints and crime scenes. (Station Gallery.
