In 1917 he replaced his horse-drawn bus with the first motor bus in Whitby. In this photograph, the bus is parked on Elm Street beside the old Ontario Hotel on the north west corner of Brock and Elm Streets. The Ontario Hotel was purchased around 1910 by Mr. Heard and made into a garage. Destroyed by fire, September 13, 2017 and demolished.
