Description
A lithograph of J.S. Robertson's store.
Notes
J.S. Robertson's store was located at 106 Brock Street South. It was the second or third store in Deverell's Block, on the west side of Brock Street, south of Dundas Street.

James Smith Robertson (1853-1925) came to Whitby from Toronto in 1874. When Deverell's Block was built in 1878, he moved into the store location pictured here. Mr. Robertson published the Whitby Chronicle from 1883 to 1885 and moved back to Toronto.
Inscriptions
At top of building: "J.S. ROBERTSON, WaLL PAPER BERLINWOOL NOVELTIES".
Inside windows on second (top) floor: "MONEY TO LOAN" MCKELLEY LAW OFFICE". Above first floor store: "J.S. ROBERTSON". Underneath first floor windows: "Wallpaper" "WOOL" "J.S. ROBERTSON".
