In a statemnent issued frorn bis Ottawa office, the Progressive,,Conservative MP for Ontario Rlding said that, "The constitution is the most fundamental law of the land, parliarnent mnust have the rlght to debate it fully and fairly Fenneli was one of the MP's that sang a chorus of 0'Canada at the end of Friday nlght's debate and rernarked later that Prime Minister Pierre Truedeau wasn't being fair. The Liberal government lnvoked tbe cbosure rule to end the debate at about 1 a.m. last Friday. Fenneil also, accused the governrnent of being hypocritical. "The Liberals dlaimn that tbe Opposition has talked too rnuch. In fact, they have, had more speakers than bas rny party," he said adding, "How arn I supposed to represent rny constituents this way?"'
