Cawker, who lives in the west ward, bas been a resident of tbe town for 25 years and was the owner of tbe Whitby Hardware Store on Brock Street South. MARTIN VAN KESSEL Van Kessel la anotber of the ten candidates for the HEC that is taking bis first crack at winning an elected office. He is 51lyears old, married witb tbree children and was employeed by Firestone Canda, Ltd. at their Whitby facility until it closed. He bas been a resident of Wbit- by for 26 years, and bas been involved witb the Whitby Minor Soccer and the Brooklin-Whitby Minor Hockey Association. GERALD COX (incumbent> Cox is the present chair- man of the commission and has sat on it since 1976. Prior to his appointment, be sat on Whitby Town Council as the centre ward coun- cillor until he was defeated by the present mayor, Jim Gartshore, in 1972. Cox, 51, lives on Centre Street South and is em- ployed by General Motors. He is also a group commit- tee chairman for the Whitby Boy Scouts. GLEN KONOROWSKI A homeowner in the town for tbe past year, this is Konorowski's firat try for the HEC. A resident of West Lynde-for the past year, he is 38 years old, married wltb two children and is a real estate salesman. He is also a director of tbe Whitby Girls' Softball Association.
