For two weeks Cedricks hosted the winner of this year's CKAR Battie of the Bands competition, being Eclipse, and they packed them in every night. This had been the bands very first club date after spending many montha practicing in their basemen- ta. In the band's short six month history they have, on top of winning the titie "Best Band" in the battie com- petition, opened for a fairly popular Canadian band of some note, Minglewood. Eclipse play a brand of good old rock and roll, run- ning through old Beatles, Stones, ZZ Top and David Bowie tunes, but they also add a healthy smatering of their own originial com- positions. "The three original songs which we play in our sets are going over very well with the crowda each nigh," said McAllister. He went on to say that Eclipse are at no lack for originial tunes owing to the fact that four of the five members in the band are also songwritters. Eclipse is a conglomeration of people who previoualy played in various other banda and as solo performers. 'We have about 200 narnea for the band originally, and I picked Eclipse and it clicked Tryouts On Wednesday, Septem- ber 24, the County Town Singera will be holding auditions at the Henry Street High School music room beginning at 8 p.m. Positions are open for soprano, alto, tenor, baritone and basa.
