The land on Dundas Street east near Athol Street, was bought from A and T Motors, without being appraised. The land was bought so the town could re-seil it, in com- bination with the adjacent lot to a developer accroding to Mayor Jirn Gartshore. Gartshore said the buying of the land will aid in "4regenerating the downtown and give us some control over specific blocks. " He went on to say that there was no need for ap- praisal because the town had had an appraisal on the neighboring lot and could assumne that the A and T Motors lot would have the sa me value. "The area is ripe for development," he said. "It can be sold tomrnorrow really, but the greatest con- cern is what goes on it. " Gartshore denied that the town bought the' land to allow a fast food chain to move onto it.
