Stewart Taylor, 33, wil for the next two years be working as a teacher in Port Moresby New Guinea. Alter a 16 montli wait Taylor's application was confirmed seven weeks ago. Once finished an intensive one week training program in Ottawa, Taylor left for New Gwinea last Thursday morning at 7 a.m. CUSOi is a non-profit organization that litres qualified teclinical and professional people and places them in over 40 developing countrys in Africa, Asia, Latin Anierica and the Carribean. Wliile in Port Moresby, Taylor wil be teaching as an auto/diesel mechanie in- structor at the Department of Works and Supply in Papau New Guinea's training centre. Taylor was born in England and moved to Canada in 1958, settling in Whitby. Since the program is voluntar, he will be receiving a base income ac- cording to his needs. Housing accommodations are provided. Ris mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Kay, said the two year trip wll hold an extra benefit for her son. "Tliis trip will also enable him to get in touch witli an uncle who lives in New Zealand." Taylor last saw hils uncle when lie was a baby. Benefit concert in Greenwood There will be a benfit concert held at Greenwood Community Park on $un- day, August 10, 1980, from 2 to 7 p.m. The concert is for Denise Swedio, a 2 year old local girl who recently lost her right arm and most of her left liand in a tragic ac- cident. MC 0f this benefit will le Bill Jolinson of CHOO Radio, performers will include: Pat Ricclo Jr. and the Anne Murray musicians, Sweet Country and special guests appearing will be Pamela Camion, Ray MacGilvary (The Islander), June Eikhard, Bunty Petrie, Tlie Bilan Gatto Band and Aidan Mason. All proceeds will be placed in the Denise Swedlo fund, C/O The Hospital For Sick Clilîdren, 555 University Avenue, Toronto. Don't worry, Regional Councillor Bob Attersley is not going to pull anyone over and give themn a speeding ticket, although lie is one 6f the five members of tlie Durham Regional Police Cominissioners. Attersley was appointed to the commission at tlie beginning of tlie year as Durliam Region Council's representative. The motorcycle that Attersley is sitting on is one of two that tlie regional department uses and is commonly ridden by Constable Roy MacDonald of Whitby's 18 Division. Attersley posed for the photograpli during the official opening of the newest Durham regional Police station that is located in Brock Township.
