Body seeks imput Marion O'Donnell, Chair- man of the Whitby Psychiatric Hospital Plan- ning and Priorities Advisory Committee, reported that the committee's information collection process is well under way, and, that the in- put of individuals concerned about the provision of men- tal health services is invited as part of that process. Earl½/y last year Dennis R. Timbrell, Minister of Health, announced provin- cial plans to redevelop the hospital during the early 1980's at an estimated cost of $28,000,000. Subsequently, the Minister invited the Durham Region District Health Council to establish the Planning and Priorities Advisory Committee to make recommendations 'cqnc 1.ning mental health servktes in the area served b- tiiý'..Whitby Psychiatric I ý')pt'al. As part of a multi-faceted information collection process, which includes a questionnaire survey, indep- th personal interviews, anîd the submission of written briefs, the committee is seeking input from concer- ned indiviçluals from acrosa the hospital catchinent area. Indîviduals are invited to put their concerns about the provision of mental health services in writing and sub- mit themn to the Durham Region District Health Council, 575 Rossland Road East, in Whitby before the end of July. The Committee is especially interested in individual perspectives on problems/gaps/needs with mental health services, and with the role of Whitby Psychiatrie Hospital in meeting those needs.
