The Brooklîn and District Kinette Club is holding its annual dance-a-thon with the proceeds going to cystic fibrosis. It will be heid on Saturday, March 8 flot March 3 - apologies for the printing error- from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. - 16 hours. Music will be provided by Kawartha D.J. Services and will be held at the Brooklin Community Centre. Lunch, supper and snacks will be provided by the Kinette Club. Many prizes will be awarded which include $50, $25, and $15 cash prizes for the most money turned in by the required date. Anyone wishing to enter, please cail Brenda at 655-4739 for sponsor sheets. Board to b e di*ssolved The town's operations committee will recommend to council that the Whitby Museum board of management be dissolved. The board was originally appointed at the request of the Whitby Historical Society in 1976 to help them obtain grants to run the Lynde House Museum. Since then, the society has taken over most of the board's functions and ac- cording to a staff report keeping it would be of "no particular advantage" to the town. Toastmistress judge contes t By Carol Davis Recently the president of the Whitby Toastmistress Club, Jeanette Etter presided over an elementary school speech contest held at St. John the Evangelist School in Whitby. She remarked afterwards that it was encouraging to see young people make an at- ternpt at public speaking. UNITED CHURCH WOMEN The ladies of the Brooklin United Church would be happy to have any local women join with them for worship, bible study and to learn of other countries. There is also good fellowship and numerous social activities occuring during the year. There are several units, most of which meet the first Tuesday of the month except one which meets the first Thur- sday afternoon, monthly. The general United Church Women's group meet the second Monday of the month and is comprised of a representation of members from ail units.
