PAGE 14, WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 9, 1980, W14ITBY FREE PRESS Wheechai* Obstacle Course open for public, participation To give the public a brief first hand experience' at what it is like to go up and down curbs and through narrow door ways, the On- tario March of Dimes in Durham Region is inviting the general public to Sheridan Maîl in Pickering on January il and 12, 1980 to go t.hrough a wheelchair ob- stacle course. The obstacle course will be set up between 12: 00 p. m. and 8:00 p.m. The course will consist of a series of ramps and pylons designed to simulate many of the daily barriers encountered, flot only by wheelchair users, but by a great many other physically disabled people venturing out into the community. The course is open to anyone wishing to try it and wheelchairs will be available. Members of the Durham Golden Wheels, who represent Durham Region in the Southern Ontario Wheelchair Basketball League, will be on hand to demonstrate their skills on the obstacle course. The March of Dimes will also be presenting audio visual displays on the various programs and ser- vices available to the disabled in Durham Region. The March of Dimes works with physically disabled aduits and provides services and aid to the physically disabled in Durham Region.
