A star defenceman with the Whitby Dunlops, world hockey champions of 1958, Edward Patrick (Ted) O'Connor died at bis residence in Oshawa on June 13, 1996. He was 65. Born in Oshawa in 1930, Ted O'Connor was a multi-talented athiete, excelling ini hockey, basebail, lacrosse and fastbail. He played minor hockey while attending St. Gregorys Separate School ini Oshawa, and from 1947 ta 1951 was a member of the Oshawa Generals junior A hockey team. From 1951 to 1965, he played hockey for Tacoma, Washington, in the American Western League and the Hershey Bears, of the American Hockey League.
