The first game was a tight- checking affair with Wildcats triumphing 5-3. Goals were scored by Jason Connor (three), Andrew Lamiot and James Liske. Assists went ta, Brandon Bowler (two), Andrew Martland and Justin Hawe. Wildcats again turned in a strong performance in Oakvllle ta, take the* second gaine 4-2, with speedy centre Connor notching another hat trick. The other Whitby goal was scored by Hawe. Assisting on the goals were 'Martland (three), Lamiot, Fowler and Jeff Hass. Refusing ta go down in three straight, Rangers responded with a great effort in the third game last Monday in Whitby, winning 4- 1. The long Whitby goal was scored by Sean Kerr from Matt Annis. Wildcats responded with a strong defensive effort in game four, allowing very few quality shots on net, ta take the series and the championship with a 4-2 win. Goals were notched by Annis (two) and Connor (two). Assisting were Hass, Kerr and Martland. Strong performances between the pipes were turned in by goaltenders Chris Nemicz and Ian Uptan. Any plans ta, advance ta, the gold medal game were abruptly halted Saturday by North York Canadiens who delivered a 6-1 loss, Rab Dancey with the only Whitby goal. The defeat put Whitby in the bronze medal finals -against Ottawa who were eliminated from the championship round by the New Liakeard, a northern Ontario regional team rated number one by-the OHF. .After 60 minutes of regulation time, Whitby and Ottawa were tied 4-4. New Liskeard defeated North York 5-2 ta, win the Air Canada championship and wlll represent Ontario at the national finals in British Columbia.
