Whitby bas now won seven games in a row, and bas two games in hand on first-plaoe St~ John the Evanglist reoently won the Durham Region senior girls' volleyball championship for Catholic elementary schools. St. John defeated teame from Oshawa, Ajax'and Pickering to win the event held at St. Mark the Unlimited of Peterborough 13-1 and Fenntech of Peterborough 8-4 to reach the final. Gary Kitamura, Graham Carson, Scott Meer, Mark Leblanc, Ryani Trudeau and Rob Sheehan also had goals ln the tournament. In a Dec. 2 select team tournament in Cannington, Whitby lost 5-O to the eventual champions, Mariposa, and then defeated Cannington 6-4 as Ellick Peterborough and four games in hand on second-plaoe Quinte. Derek Rayner, Greg Williamns and Kyle Peroewicz scored and Andrew Braithwaite got the shutout against Barrie. Williams, KyleMusselman and Percewicz scored against Richmnond Hill, while Bryan MacKinnn's shutout bid was ended in the third period. Evangeliat in Whitby.
