Musîc, at, theaetre,, ACapitol summer in Pod Hope Classic films such as Grand Hotel and Casablanca will be presented once again in the fraditiona way, on large screen black, and white at a historie heitae building known as the Capiol Theatre, in Port Hope July 7 to Aug. 6. 'Port Hope Presents ... Summer '95' also includes An American in Paris, Grey Fox and Company of Strangers, as well as children's roductions including The Neyer nigStory, The Disappearngq Donut Caper, Ken Ramsden ana Charlotte's Web, and Fern Gully. The musical lineup includes loser Than Ever and Be Bye Birdie. There will also be a preview of The Cast of the Curious Cabaret, a musical that will premiere later this summer at the Kawatha.Summer Theatre in Lindsay. The Disappearing Donut Caper is directed b loal talent Linda Hutsell-Manning and directed by Marg Doig. A Canadian Rhombus film production of the life and times of Canadian pianist Glenn Gould called Thirty-two Short Pieces, wilI be presente by Larry Winestine, the Pioneer of t he local production company. For music loyers there will be the Battle of the Banâs. Over 12 bands are scheduled from noon, with the finaliste battling it out in the evening. Hundreds of dollars in prizes will be awarded to the winners. Washboard Hank & The Honkers is sure to draw a large crowd. Ohildren will be excited ta see Ken Ramsden and Charlotte's Web. This classic children's film will be another rare viewing on the large screen. 'Port Hope Presents ... Summer '95Y will also present the Canadiaui country band Montana Sky, whose first CD -was released in February this year. They have also appeared in the p ast with such greats as Farmers Daughtr and Blue Rodeo. Montana Sky will also be appearing at the Havelock Jamboree this summer. Other musical events happening at the Capital Theatre include the Jackson Delta Blues Band; Music and Tea for a Sunday Afternoon, featuring music by Brahms performed by eight renowned vocalists; opening day celebration of The Bending of the Bows.
