However, the work by Tirnotby Findley is challenging, disturbing and downight frigbtening. It takes place in the 1930s and 1940s in an asylumn somewhere in Canada. Cassandra Wakeland is the protagonist. 5Sh. is portrayed admirably by Lisa T Iaylor cf Whitby in a role reniiniscent cf King Lar , in thatshe spends almost the. entire time on stage and speaking. After she is committed to the asylumn, she begins to recount ber life through a series of flashbacks. The other inembens cf the institution alternate by poiaying variaus 1members cf Cassandra's family and friends thnough a series cf disturbing vignettes.- "Nothing should cdie alone," she says to herself, wbile clutching a precious photo album throughout the. play. The family is run by a dornineerirïg father, Edward, wbo is- exceptionally portrayed by David. Halliday. As weil, there is gruesome mention of what people do to, horses. Findley's workt always mentions dogs and horses, -- it seeme to be one cf bis favourite motifs.
