In between was an extraordinary run by the Brooklin Redmen-Scugog Chrysier tyke A .rep lacrosse club, who closed out the year by winning the 1994 provincial championship at Arthur, Ont. In tournament play, coach Kevin O'Brien's squad poeted a perfect 22-0-0 mark, claiming championships in Peterborough, Brampton ', Hamilton, Mississauga and the grand finale at Arthur. In those 22 gaines, the teamn scored 223 goals for an average of more than 10 per gaine and permnitted only 45 for a goals-against-average of barely over 2.00. Overali, inciuding four gaines at a novice tournament in Ottawa plus ail zone and exhibition play, the Whitby squad was an impressive 31-2-0. The only blemishes were two losses against older competition at the novice tournamient. Netminder Curtis Doherty was outst.anding ail season and a criticai factor in the final gaine of the season. Stellar defence was provided by the tandems of Keenan Lang and Corey i-li, Michael Haley and Robert Heickert and Matt Wilkins and Matt Savoie. Another of the clubls strengths was excellent offensive balance with contributions from three strong lines -- Zac Greer between Michael McKenzie and Chris HwSteven Seedhouse between Kyle O'Brien and Craig McDonald, and teamn captain Matthew Carroll between Adamn Berti and Dustin Momrson. StilI, nothng came easy. It was only fitting that Wihitby met archrival Peterborough in the provincial final. The two teamae met a total of six turnes over the season and while O'Brien's team won each time, coach Brian Evans' squad proved itself a more than worthy adversary. EvansW team, led by Ontario's premier tyke player Shawn Evans, showed 1 rapid improvement and in the end there was little to choose from between the two rivai,.
