Recently in Manitoba, Sigsworth was fourth at the junior national championship where nine provinces sent their teais with the crème de la crème of junior -triathletes (under age. 20) in Canada. A win tonight (Wednesday) at Iroquois Park over Six Nations will clinch first place for Brooklin Redmen in the Ontario major lacrosse lbague. Rednien won both of their gaines in the past week, 12-8 over Owen Sound last Tuesday and 14-5 over Fergus on Satur- day, and Six Nations won over Brampton Saturday te give Red- men a two-point edge heading into tonight'sr gaine. Should Six Nations win te, tie Redmen for top spot, then pre- viously canceled gaines, each teamnhaving one, will have te be scheduled te complote the scho- dule and determine who will finish first. Flying during the 40-ilometre cycle, he egstered the second fastest "split" (trne) in the field. for Canada which had won two gaines and lost one (te defending champion U.S.) as of Sunday. But Tom Wreggitt and John Fusco, both having fine seasons, have rnaintained their scoring success in recent games. Wreggitt had four goals and two assists and Fusco two goals and three assists in the win over Owen Sound. Peter Park had three goals and an assiat. gainst Fr s, Wreggitt had three goals and three assists and Fusco four assists. Mike Harding had a goal and three assists in that contest and Wayne Grant a goal and two assists. Saturday's game against Fer- gus also featured the return of another Redmen sniper and the absence cf the team~s most rough and tumble piayer. Greg Van Sickle scored two goals despite lirnited floor turne in his first game after under- going rehabi litation ail spring ind summer for a back injury. Warriors host Brampton on Thursday night at Iroquois Park. In Monday's gaine, a tame affair, with, onl1v 14 minutes in penalties called, Warriors juin- ped out to a 4-2 lead after the first period but fell victim to Brampton domination in the second period. The home teain took a 7-5 lead after the second period and thon made it 8-5 early in the third. It was 9-6 when Mike Fryer scored with 1:17 remaining and then Jonas Derks with 13 seconds left. Fryer had two goals for the gaine, Matt Shearer, Ryan Hux- ter, Shaydon Santos, Jim Brown and Kevin Lunnie getting the others. Kevin Haynes and Mike Hen- derson each had two goals for Brampton. Warriors coach Wayne Colley says the teains are evenly mat- ched,' but Brampton is playing well while a few Warriors are «playin, injured.» Wamors attackers are getting chances, but «we're not putting the bail in the net," particularly on power play chances. Warriors won the third game of the series on Sunday 10-7, after losing 13-6 and 9-7 last week. Fry er had three goals, Derks and îuxter two each in the win. Henderson had four goals for Excelsiors.
