The land was eventually purchased by Thomas Halted in 1832. Mr. Halsted was the first bonafide settier of tde lande, having the existing structure built most likely in the late 1840s, and definitely by 1862, as his residence is listed as a 1-1/2 storey stone house in thue census taken in 1852. Ater Wr. Hasted's death in 1854, the propert was sold to Timothy Fisher. The property was owned by vanious Fisher family mein bers until 1938 (84 years). ARCHITCURAL The Hasted-Fisher house is of architectural value and interest, and je an excellent example of an early fiekistone farmhouse with med brick tnim. The house is located on a large farmn lot and is surrounded by mature vegetation. It has finely executed details in bath wood and masonry which demonstrate the local vemnacular traditions and thie more elaborate decorative design elements typkcal of the eaily and mid-19th centuury neo-diassicai styles. It has a typical foarin for a vemacular farmhouse, having a formai five-bay front facade with two Windows, wit six-over-six sash, an eliher sie of a central doorway. The building also has irregular features, such as a blind window, a double-sided bake aven and an asymmetria back door, which add te ts vemacular character. Interior features of interest are the basement fireplace which indicates dmu presence of an early ktchen andithe intact mouldings of the present dining room. The dining room's baseboard, door andwindow trim use corner boxes, reedinge and the same large moulding profile as the exterior entry pilasters. They are the broad and elaborate mouldings charactenistic of the nea-classical and are repeated consistently throughout the building, appearing aIso in the eaves and in the entry entablature.
