Once in the driver's seat, you find a pleasant interior that is bath comnfertabla and functional. By virtue of the car's size, al contrais are within easy reach of the driver. Both front and rear seats are comfortable, with easy access ta the rear seats from the wida opemng rear doors. Trunk room is goed, as I have traveliad with my famiiy many times and have always had plenty of room for luqggage. Since the trunk opens right down ta the bumper, loading and unload- ing is easy, a reai benefit for those with bad backs. Power for al L mprezas cornes from a 16-valve single overhead ceiM, fuel-injected fiat faur-cylin- der engine. This fiat four is similar in design ta the aid VW Bug en&'ne. But Subaru made the angine water-cooled, instead of air- cooled as in the Bug. B y making the angine water-caoled, they made it conforin toa ah pollution standards; unlike th e Bug engine.. Brakixig consists of front dises and drums in the rear. The ali-wheel-drive (AWD) IS (four- wheel-drive) cames with dise brakes ail around, enhancing the stapping power of the vehicle. According ta C&C Motors, of the Lmprezas sold 70 par cent are AW models. IPrices for the Base Impreza start at $14.000 and work up ta a fullyleaded AWD wagon at about $21,000.
