Pia Fox (formerly Williamson) had been remanded to today's (Wednesday) date following a pre-trial hearing in Ontario court general division in Whitby last Fox, 37, faces four counts of fraud laid in connection with bier role as owner of the now defunct Consortium Group of Companies which was based in Whitby. More than 800 people, most of whom live in Durham Region, invested millions in real estate deals Fox's com]pan.y claimed te have had -in Osh awa, Muskoka and the Caribbean. The four fraud charges, laid by the RCMP last year, involve more than $7 million invested in Proets in the Bahamas and Trks and Caicos Islands. Fox who was extradited te Canaâa from England in June, founded Consortium witb bier late husband Lachlan William- son in 1990. The following year the coin- pany %vas placedt in receivership. Workers will receive no wage increase nor imiproved benefits during the. life of tbe three-year agreenment.> Members of Local 53 of the Canadian' Union of Public Employees (CUPE) approved the package last Thursday. The deal is unrelated to the social contiract agreenment wbicb was also endorsed at the sanie meeting (see separate story). The contract covers Whitby's 164 fulI-tinie inside and. outside workers, plus -121 part-tume and student employees.. The average wage for the Town's hourly employees is $19-05.
