Page 10, Whitby Froe Press, Wednesday, June 2. 1993 Te Whitby Local Architectural Conservation Advisory Cornmittee (LACAC) wvill host its second Heritage Ilouse Tour on Saturday, June 12. To date, LACAC has designated more than 40 historically and/or architecturally significant properties. Two of the seven homes on the tour are designated. The seven homes exemplify fine examples of early Canadien architecture in southwestern Ontaie. Built between 1845 and 1929, they represent elmost a century of social and economic development of the Town in its early and formative years. Tour participants will be welcomed to explore an authentie Elizabethen-style cestle built in 1859. TIhe tour will elso take them through the chambers of an early l9th-century Catholie ehurch converted to a residence in the lete 1970s. Frank Lloyd Wright enthusiasts will find the likes of bis great Prairie School Architecture in a home built by Michael Stapleflord in 1856. Aiso on the tour is a magnificent home constructed of limestone cut by prisoners at Kingston Penitentiary. Participants ill i be overwhelmed by Inverlyn, the home featured in the 1971 television series 'The White Oaks of Jaîna.' A charming Gothic revival-style home is alsc, among the attractions.
