Carson adds that Arons and his daughter will each have two jet turbine engines on each tracter -- each with 6»000Ohp. There are six categories that pullers may. enter: street legal super stock, four-wheel-drive trucks; modified four- wheel-drive trucks; -modified two-wheel-drivetrucks; modi- fied tractors; pro-stock tracters, one for light and one for heavy. The tracter and truck pull committee expects about 35 to 40 entries on Friday, June 4, beginning at 7 p.m. «Lest year we had an excellent turnout,» says Carson. Car show to feature the classics By Cheryl-Ann Macean Up to 100 cars and trucks are expected to enter the car show et this year's fair, and 16 of those will drive away with trophies. There are 15 cetegories for contestants: best Ford, best GM, best Chrysler, best antique truck, best custemn best commercial, best classic convertible, best classic closed, best herd top rod, best convertiblerod, cleanest vehicle, most chrome, bestVpFaint job, best colours, and Brooklin Spring Fair directors' choice. Any vehicle that is older than 1982 is considered a classsc. Each vehicle is numbered. Thé judges for the car show are the contestants themnselves. Each contestant will receive a ribbon for entering and 16 trophies will be awarded as prizes to the winners of each category. "Last year we had about 80, and that was Ipretty good considerng it was a miserable and wet day,'. says Rcay Hodson, chair of the car show committee. "We lhope that it's going to be nice this year." The car show will take place on Sunday, June 6. And o n Saturday, June 5, owners of antique cars (not customized) can drive them out to the fair and show them off. "People like to see themn just like the way that they came ou t of th e facor,» says Hodson. Contestants cen bring their cars to the fair to enter any time after 9 a.m. on June 6, although the car show doesn t begi n until il a.m. It continues until 4 p.m. Te registration fée is $7 for the car an d driver, and there is no limit on the number of cars entered by an owner. "We welcome anyone to corne on out," says Hodson. He adds that, because of rain, the pull had te bo called off h-alfway through. Pullers who enter will have a number of safety requirements te, pass. "Nobody can hope te enter without being certiried by the pullers association ... And the tracters that enter are pro-stock tracters. % "This simply means that they are based on regular tracters, only the engines are soupcd up so that they get about 10 times the horsepower,» says Carson. Almost $8,000 worth of prize moncy will be available for winners of the pull.
