Bench Assembly in Oshawa. Former district deputy Martin Turpin felt it was time to bring a second assembly of the 4th dègree Kni htsa of Columbus into Duream Region. us A committee started the ball in motion. Members began at the roots by signing up as many interested members as they côuld flnd. Once this grass roots grop was formed, an executive was elected to. better lead them into the next phase. Sir knight Brian McKinnon was elected as the charter faithful navigator. Under bis leadership this group set about bringing in the necessary number of new members into the club. Once all current and new members were in place, it was time to enter the the iproer formrns final step. All p rF u .- lu VLC I were sent out and the master of the 2nd Ontarie District, sir knight Frank Devine, was approachedfor final approval. On Nov. 3, 1992 vice supreme master air knight James Côté and the - newly appointed master Wilard Roy presented the members their official charter. They will now be known as Father Leo J. Austin Assembly #2287. Also on this night the charter executive was installed into their respective offices. A social evening took place following the ceremomes to celebrate the event. Club to host dim sum dinner The Brooklin Boys Octagon Club will host a dim sum dinner at Casia Palace on Hwy. 12 just north of Brooklin, on Sunday, Dec 13, in an ongoing effort to raise mono yfor the club. Although rarely available in Durham Region, dim sum dinners are popular in Toronto as a Sunday treat. A variety ofbchinese appetizer and finger foodis are served in a buffet style. The restaurant will be preparing over 15 different items or this event. Last year the Brooklin Optimist Club hosted a similar event which attracted over 75 people. Advance tickets for the event are available for $15 each. Price includes all-you-can-eat dim sum, tea or coffee, and all taxes. The event will feature two sittings, one from 10:30 a.m. til 1 p.m., and the other from 1 to 3 p.m. Tickets are available at The Video Image or Brooklin Bulletin Signs in Brooklin and at the restaurant. The Octagon Club's recent boule drive in Brooklin raised just over $116 for the club. trees go to Canine Vision Canada, a continuous project Of the Lions Foundation of Canada. In the Knob Hill national 4-H beef heifer show, Joanne Handley of Campbellcroft was grand champion showman. She also showed the champion Simmental heffer while Paula Pascoe of Solina showed the champion Aberdeen-Angus heifer. Ibis review is being conducted pursuant to the requirements of the Class Environmental Assessment for Municipal Sewage and Water Projects. A possible outcome of this review may be the implementation of new programmes and facilities to nanage the Region's sewage sludge during the winter months. The Region .would like your comments as to how this review should proceed before finalizing its planning approach. There are two ways for you to become involved. 1. Public Information Centres Attend the Region's Public Information Centres. Our preject team will be available to review our proposed approach, answer questions and receive your comments.
