The Youth Start-UJp Capital programs, operated by the Ontario governmnent in partnership with the Royal Bank of Canada, La Fédération des Caisses populaires and chambera of commerce/boards of trade throughout the province, address this problemi by providing boans to young people who want to start their own business. Last year,, more thon 3,400 businesses were operating under these programs. Recently, Monte Kwinter, Minister of Industry, Trade and Technology, presented the annual Minister's; Award for outstanding achievement to 17 young people who launched busiesss with the help of Youth Start-Up Capital. Michael Blecher, founder- of Advantage Advertising ini Guleph, is one younýg entrepreneur who took ad»e of a Student Venture boan. "So I came up with the idea of developing a desk-tep calendar that laid out the. school year at a glance, surrounded by a border of advertising promoting services that students were likely te use."
