Whitby began with an 8-2 win over Toronto's' Warren Park, as Brian Vinent scored four goals and Grant Souter three. Jason Irwin had the otier goal and picked up three assists. Souter was named most valuable p layer. Brent Johnson was outstand- uin net as Whitby shut out itn3-0. Scott Young opened the scoring on a pass from Todd Farguharson, then a perfect pass by hwn set up-Ryan OLeary, Who later scoredfrom Matt Cap- son and Farquharson. Vinent was named niost valuable player ina the gaine for Whitby. Newmarket then defeated Whitby 4-2 fwn and' Vinent scoring for WhCtby. 1ýson Peel's defensive play earned him MVP honors for Whitby. Whitby then came back to demolisi London 6-O, for John- son's second shutout. Young scored twioe with singles to Sou- ter, Vinent, O'Leary and Irwin. Young was named MVP. Te tournament final saw Whitby again meet Newmarket, Whitby this turne taldng victory with another 4-2 score. Newmarket scored first, but Gina King and Mike Cartwright set up Young to tie the score.. .On a fine three-way passing FIay, O'eary p ut Whitby in the leadIwn andVinent assisting. Newmarket again tîed it and the goaltenders then took over, Admn Yule making several saves for Whitby. But the turning point came when Whitby was awarded a penalty shot, and O'Leary didn't miss top ut Whitby ahead. O'Leary also provided the in- surance into an empty net, his third of the contest, and the -Whitby captain was nazned MVP. Peewees win 2 of 3 gam-es The Whitby major peewee AA team, sponsored by Guitarzan Guitars, continued their strong league play recently with two wins in three gaines. WVhitby lost a tough gaine to Oshawa AAA teani, with Paul Dillon scoring the only goal for Whitby. The peewees put their offence into high gear against Pickering and skated away with a 6-2 victory. Andre Marios and Wayne Primeau led the way with two goals each while Adamn Parks and Derek Young scored one each. Paul Brooks contributed a fine effort, picking up three assists, while Brad Lee's fine play resulted in two assists. Whitby's next game was in Markharn where they domninated play and came away with an 8-3 victory. Primeau had a finq game scoring three goals for t4e bat trick. Young and Dillon wefe also inipressive, scoring two goals each. Parks scored one tc round out Whitby secring. Gavin Tackney and Brian MeRoberts had a fine gaine, picking up an assist each.
