It was a board-banging battle with Henry coming out ahiead at the end by a score of 45-39. Leading the scoring for Ander- son with 9 points was LeeAnn Muir, followed by JoAnne Hood with 8. «It was a fast-paced game but the ladies showed poise and patience,"sâid Dave Phillips, Anderson senior girls' coach. Rich Grant, Henry's quarter- back, was chased allafternoon by a monstrous Dun barton defence. Henry coach Pat Pucknell looks ahead to facing teams like Pickering, one of the strongest teams, and Donevan. Pucknell said strong play by wide receiver Darrin Jonston, linebacker Brad Chalmers and running back Mike Thom will be neede to defeat these teams. The Whitby squad had diffi- culty at the. start of the season but came on strong in the second haîf and went uneeated in the final seven games of the league sehedule. In August the team won. an internationý1 tournament in Mariboro, New Jersey. Tourna- ment play included a Whitby win over a Long Island, N.Y. team Atoms skate past Markhm The Passport-Whitby mincir atom "A"' team started their season off with a bang by dumping Markham 11-1 at the Brooklin arena on Tuesday night. Bilan Vinent and Derek Van Egmond led the attack with three goals each while Ryan OLeary counted two goals and singles were added by John Lang, David Farquharson and Todd Farquharson. Jason Irwin and Grant Souter assisted on four goals each in the winning effort. Sound goalkeeping was supplied by Brent Johnson who was robbed of a shutout in the last minute of'play.
