WHJTBY FREE PRESS, -WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 4,1989, PAGE 25 Primeau: OHLer's look to U. S., teams dollars At age 17, Whitby's lXeith Pri- meau is expected to be drafted in the top five in next year's National Hockey League draft. Primeau is beginning bis second full season with Niagara Falls Thunder of the Ontario Hockey League after having spent a year in Hamilton. The 6-ft., 5-in.-tall centre had 20 goals and 35 assists in 48 games last year and bas got off to a fast pace this year with two goals, an d three assists in two games. He missed 18 games last year with a broken collarbone, but it bas since healed properly and he is aiming at a 100-point season. Aware that a lot of teams have been scouting him, Primeau is unsure who will choose him in the draft. But if hie had bis choice, it would be a team that needs help, especially a .- based team close to the Cana- dian border. "I would like to go to Detroit or Buffalo," says Primeau. The reason? "American money. Moneyý is a big thing and when you sign a contract with an Arnerican team it is in Americçan money," said Primeau. He says a lot of OHL players are also looking toward U.S. teams but Primeau would like to live in Canada. He hopes to stick with whate- ver NHL teami drafts himi next year. And because he has one vear of junior eligibility Ieft, he Anderson wins tournament The men's volleyball team from Aniderson won an exhibition tournament and made the semi- finals of another on the fveekend.
