The Youth Group includes those aged 8 to 18 who have a genuine interest in the theatre arts. The Youth Theatre prograrn provides a combination of training and practical experience. Tbree separate workshop series, a free presentation for friends and relatives, plus both Christmnas and summer productions are planned. The season beginis with a series of two-hour Saturday morning workshops encompassing the 8- to 12-year-olds. Prom 10 a.m. te noon, beginning Sept. 16 and continuing through Nov. 18, a variety of acting workshops will prepare- the junior group for a 'Friends and Relatives' présentation on Dec. 2. The senior group, encom- passing 13- te 18-year-olds, will be called upon te, use previous years experience in support of The exhibition, 'Nataika Husar: Milk and Blood,' will be held at The Station Gallery, Whitby, Sept. 9 to Oct. 1. A reception to meet the artist wil be beld on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2 to 5p.m. Husar, born in 1951 in New Jersey, currently lives in Toronto. In her recent paintings she illustrates the conflict she faces te per-form sept. 24 j An Oshawa Symphony Orches- tra concert will be held Sunday, Sept. 24, 8 p.m., at Eastdale CVI, 265 Harmony Rd. N., Oshawa. The orchestra, will perform 'Coweli - Concerto for Percussion T and Orchestra' and 'Mahler - -Symphony No.i5, C # Minor.' Admission is $12 adults, $11 seniors, $6 students. Advance tickets are available at Saywell's Book Store, 14 Simcoe St. N., or Long & McQuade, 445 Simcoe St. N ., Osbawa. the junior group presentation. Auditions for the December Christmas show, 'Wooster Without Wednesday,' a musical fantasy for children, wili be open te, ail youth group members. Four maies aged 10 te 18 , four females aged 8 te 18 and one vilain (maie) aged 14 te, 18 are required. The roles include eight singing and one non-singing parts. Auditions will be held Sept. 16 and 17 (Saturday and Sunday), from 12:30 te, 3:30 p.m. on both days. The production will run Dec. 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17. The season will continue in January with two separate workshop series. A second series of 10 a.m. te noon Saturday workshops will be provided for the junior group. The senior group (13 te 18 years) will participate in 10 Saturday afternoon, profes- sionally led workshops (partially funded by a Theatre -Ontarjo' Grant). These workshops will be held -from 1 te 3 p.m. Improvisationai techniques will be the primary focus. Both junior and senior winter workshop series will run Saturdays from Jan. 20 through March 24. The Yrouth Theatre program will culminate with the annual summer show and draw on sIcIlis gained through the workshop training and experience. A Youth Group generai meeting will be held on Saturday, Sept. 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration for the junior group fall workshops will take place and a $10 series fee to offset the costs mnvolved will apply. Those youth interested in attending the workshops or in auditiçning for the upcoming production of 'Wooster Without Wednesday' are invited to attend this meeting.
