Joe Vinisb and Patty Gerlus were respondin g to a stor in the Au g .2 issue of The Free Press. Te stor detailed the neigh- bors' fight to have the se"*erance turned down. "This bouse sbould be demnol- ished," said Vinish, wbo noted. that the only parts of'the bouse with beat are the living room and kitchen. Vinisb bougbt the bouse in February and spent $7,000 restoring it inside. "But we ran into a financial bind and put it up for sale in March," said Vinish. A developer purchased the home on condition that he could sever the 80-ft. lot to make roorn for two 2,500-sq. ft. Victorian s ty le homes. Vinish said he allowed the developer to apply for the severance in bis name. "This bouse niay look okay from the outside but it is a mess inside," said Vinisb. A quick tour sbowed that among other problems, the bath- room foor was sinking. "The bouse is not structurally sound anymore. It is not worth spending money on it," said Vin- ish, wbo is upset about some of bis neigbbors' commrents. One neighbor, Mike Power, told The Free Press he felt the borne could be fixed up with a little work. "lThr, eiuhbors jumped the gun in saying I was just trying to inake a bueX. No one bas everi corne ini and had a look," he said'. Vinish said he is now talking to a second developer for.a de ai that could see the bouse demol- ished and a duplex constructed. He said the land is zoied R? whicb allows for a duplex. "There could possibly be a plain Jane duplex up here," said 'Vinish, wbo did not give any time frame for bis plan.
