Youstate that I received $1,047 in contributions during the last municipal election carnpaign period - an error on two counts. As the section of the FInancial Report - Part 2, entitled Statement of Income and Expenses, and the accompanying schedule 1, part 1 (available for public inspection at the Whitby municipal building) make clear, I - no one else - paid $1,084, not $1,047, for my election campaign., While part of the problem lies in the disclosure form's wording (' contribution' was defined te Abiig catch The recently released Lindsay district fisheries management plan should corne as good news to residents who enjoy fishing l1ocally, as well as to local charter boat operators as well as others who benefit f rom the tourismn trade generated by aréa fishing. The management plan has developed numerous strategies to be implemented over the next five years. In some cases, they continue existing practices, in others, they enhance themn. For example, increased effort will be given to protect existing f ish populations and habitat in some areas, while other areas will see promotion of less desirable species to anglers. And the attempt continues to restore Atlantic salmon popu- lations after many years' absence. Stocking of chinook salmon and brown trout will increase, to boost angling opportunities in Lake Ontario. The Ministry of Natural Re-, sources sees an expansion of the sport fisher in Lake Ontario in the future, one that they see as only now being tapped.-Whitby is part of that sport f ishery, and the new boat launch area planned for Whitby fits nicely into the ministry's strategy of improving access for anglersto the Lake Ontario waters. Overaîl, the ministry plan will mean, in the, future, improved f ishing throughout the area, and a guide to the development of the Lake Ontario sport fishery. Whitby, with a fine harbor and future harbor plans, a charter boat trade and-an established sport fishing associ- ation, will land big. include money from anonyrmous sources, "single source(s),' and money provided by the candidate or candidate's spouse) an equal part lies in the reporter's failure te repr my declaration accuratély, since the article mentions that_ at least two candidates, Scott and DoIstra, paid for their campaign themselves - as. did I. i rey Edie Claire Gomille Whitby Error iin election expenges LETTERS The Whitby Free Press welcomes letters to the Editor on any subject of concern to our readers.
