Keynote speaker is Loing Brinkerhoff from the University of Connecticutt who will be focuing on the role everyone plays in fostering independence in LU students. Workshop topies include: LiUving with a Learning Disability,' 4'Strategies for TeachingP English to Students with Learning Disabilities,' ' The Impact of Language and Learning Problems on Sehool Success, 'The Roi e of the College Counsellor in Dealing with Students with LDP y and 'Addressing the Needs of College There is stili time to register for the Durham Region Lung Associations nine-session, five- week program (Airforce) for asthmatic youngsters (3-12 years). This hands-on course will provide information about asthma and personalized instruction in relaxation and breathing techniques appropriate for the age group. These techniques include breathing and body relaxation inethods and the current- administration of prescribed medications. Recently added to the program are several new teaching aids including a cartoon video which helps young children understand their asthma. Through fun activities, children are taught to use their disghragm attend.
