The increase raises a commis- sioners' salary to $2,250 from $1,866. The commissioners are Bill Hughes, Robert Cawker and Bill Lawlor. The chairinan of the -commis- sion,. Gerald Cox, received an 18.9-per cent increase, bringing his salary to $2,650 from $2,200. Town clerk Don McKay said the* commission recommends the inerd-n- whicb must, then be approved by council. According to Cox, demand on the commissioners is growing. "'We are doing more work but for commissioners the percentage looks hi gh com- pared to the dollars," h e said about the increase. He said commissioners will face tough decisions in the future, including a relocation of the administration building. Commissioners now meet once a month and when meetings are requiired. Bycomparison, the chairman of the Oshawa Public Utilities Commission receives $4,750 a yar while commissioners make $4,250. In Pickering, the chair- man receives $2,835 while com- missioners make $2,625. In Ajax the chairman makes $2,063 while commissioners make $1,865.
