Van Patter aiso teamed witb Kyle Hunter of Kitchener to win the under- 16 mixed doubles title. "She was pretty excited " said mother Sandy about Hea'ther's wins. "Mie Town bas recognized the need for more diamonds as wel as soccer fields," says recreation directer Larry Morrow. More diaxnonds are needed, as there is a waiting list of teanis. The recreation department says the number on the list is as yet unconfirmed. Letters were sent in December to each of the 26 leagues tbat used Town facilities. Leagues were told that the allocation and distribution of diamond playing time this season will be simlar three times- a week. She also p ractises at another location in Toronto twice a week. Her coach is Jim Sydie of Richmond Hill. Sydie's son, Iain, won singles doubles and mixed doubles in tle under-19 division of the Canadian championships. Van Patter will next compete in the Ontario A cbampionsbips, for players of ail ages, on April 7, 8 and 9 at Durbami College.
