Sandy Ryrie Durham Regional Police Crime Stoppers and Durham Regional Police are again asking fior the public's help i solving a number of sexual assaults which have ccurred in the Whitby and Oshawa areas over the past few months. At about 12:45 a.m. on Aug. 1, a girl was walldng east on Dundas St. E. in WMhy just west of the Kendalwood Mail. She saw a man approaching her on the opposite sidewalk, and as he came dloser, lie crossed to, ber side. When he was beside ber, he put bis hand over ber face and dragged ber into the bushes. He then- pinned ber arms witb ber jacket and sexuaily assaulted lier. During tbe violent struggle, she managed to bite him twice. A re-enactmnent of this assault will be sbown on CITY-TV (cliannel 57, cable 7) on Thursday, Jan. 19 during tbe 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. news. It will also be sliown on CHEX-TV in Peterborougb and CKVR-TV in Barrie on Friday, Jan. 20, again during their news. Another, similar incident occurred on Oct. 27 at about 10:30 p.m. in Oshawa A woman was walking east over the bridge on Gibb St. at General Vanier School, wben a man grabbed lier. He dragged hier underneatb the bridge and eventually to a field where she was sexually assaulted. On Dec. 16 at about 11:15 p.m. another female was sexually assaulted in a very violent manner on Bloor St. just west of Simcoe St. at the Oshawa Creek. She bad been walking over the creek, wben she was attacked and dragged down an embankment where sbe was beaten and raped. Police feel that the same suspect is responsible for ail three crimes and is described as: A white maie in his early 20's; 5'8"-5'10"; medium build. He had short dirty blonde bair, just over bis ears, and it was eitber wavy or curly. He liad a fuil length face witb deep set eyes. On the last occasion bie was wearing a heavy dark green jacket with a fur bood. Crime Stoppera will pay up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person involved in tbe assault.
