$01.75 million so far.for United-Way The United Way campaign for Oshawa, Whitby and Newcastle is now two-thirds of the way toward its 1988 goal. After four weeks of the six- week campaign, $1,750,050 had been raised, or 64-per cent of the objective of $2.75 million, accord- ing to campaign chairman Michael King. King, who announced the total at last week's *public report meet- ing;, said he "ureat confidence" that the goal wilI'be reached. .Those Ichairing the various divisions reported their totals thus far at last week's meeting. Melissa Morris-Martin said $1,116,358 had been raised in the General Motors division, or 74 per cent of that division's go ai. Bob Jacklin reported that $211,036 had been raised in the industrial division, 49 per cent of their goal. So far $176,075 had been raised in the public service divi- sion, said-chair -Bette Morrion, 63 per cent of their goal. In the education division, $31, 135 bas been raised, or 30 per cent of that goal, said aijorie Hodges. The commercial division has so far raised $31,940, or 47 per cent, said chair Mandy Crawford. Barb Pearson, chairing the business division, said $17,869 had been raised, or 26 per cent of the goal. Dr. Claude Vipond said $25,171. bas been raised in the professional division, or. 32 per cent.
