The Mann Cup, made of gold and valued at $25,000, originates with Sir Donald Mann, builder of the Canadian Northern Railway. It was originaily a challenge cup which went to Canada's senior amateur champions. But in September,, 1925, New W Westminster, the reigning cham- pions at that time, turned over the cup to the newly formed Canadian Lacrosse Association. The association adopted uni- form rules for ail competing lacrosse teams, and later made the cup the prize of an annual Canadian competfion with the series te, alternate between west and east. Redmen claimed the Mann ~Y" Cup last year, defeating New mai Westminster in a seven-game ,s series in New Westminster, B.C. Whitby is eastern host this year, with ail games to be played at Iroquois Park.
